NEW Hawke Airmax 30 WA SF

The Hawke Airmax has been a staple in the airgun world for some time.  Hawke now offers an updated Airmax 30 WA SF.  The WA stands for “wide angle.”  This means that you’ll get a larger field of view when compared to non-WA scopes.  This is quite a nice feature, especially for hunting purposes.  The larger the field of view, the more you can see.  The more you can see, the more you can shoot.  Who wouldn’t like that?  The video below accompanies this written review.  I suggest taking them both in for the full story.

Utilizing the Hawke H2 optical system with a 50mm objective, the 16 layer fully multi-coated lenses deliver a crisp, bright image with no discernible spherical aberration and extremely little chromatic aberration.  Unless the scope is on maximum magnification and under just the right conditions, you’ll probably notice no chromatic aberration whatsoever.  The view through the scope is flat, correct, and wonderful.  Most people would refer to this as “good glass.”

With a generous 4″ of eye relief, you’ll find the Airmax WA very comfortable.   The 30mm aluminum mono-tube gives you 16 MRAD of adjustment for both elevation and windage.  The new Airmax WA has capped target turrets graduated in 1/10 MRAD.  The tracking of this scope is superb.  I did a test where I shot an X at 20yds on my test gun, randomly turned the turrets in all directions, returned to my original zero….and put another pellet through the exact same hole.  If you dial for adjustment rather than use holdover, rest assured that the Airmax WA will return you to your zero every single time.

Hawke kept the beloved AMX reticle for this scope, and it’s fully illuminated in red.  There are six intensity levels with an off position between every level.  This is a second focal plane reticle which is etched into the glass for both precision and durability.  The scope spacing is MRAD accurate at 10x with graduations every half-mil on the lower vertical post.  Anyone using holdover rather than dialing for adjustment will appreciate that precision.  This is one of the features that makes the Airmax a staple for field target shooters.

Hawke AMX Reticle

As with all higher-end Hawke scopes, you’ll find the Airmax WA nitrogen purged, waterproof, shockproof, fog proof, and spring-gun rated for over 12ft-lbs.  Poor weather and rough use are no match for this scope.  The package includes maintenance items and accessories such as a 4″ sunshade, 4″ sidewheel, hex key, CR2032 battery, lens cloth, metal flip-up lens covers with flip-up removal tool, instruction manual, scope alignment booklet, and reticle booklet.  Not to mention….like all Hawke optics, it carries a lifetime warranty.  What more could you ask for?  If you like what you see, we do have these in stock here at Baker Airguns.
