This is the Crosman 140 marked “M140 Hawthorne”, and is the third variant of the 140 which has no spoon breech cover like prior variants, and also does not have the die cast trigger housing like later variants. The third variant also has a steel breech, unlike earlier variants that have aluminum breeches. These rifles were manufactured between 1956 and 1962.
This one is in nice condition for such an old air rifle. The metal retains about 90% of the original finish. The light colored wood stock does have a few small nicks and dings, but looks good overall with minor wear.
We recently cleaned, lubed, and resealed this rifle in our shop. Velocity tested at around 509 fps using lead pellets.
- .22 caliber
- Multi-pump pneumatic
- Single shot
