The J.C. Higgins 126.2830 is a Crosman 180 that was made for Sears. This one’s a first variant which has a cross bolt safety. Crosman 180’s are single powerlet CO2, .22 caliber, bolt action single shot pellet rifles with manual safety, and were manufactured between 1956 and 62′.
The wood stock is a little rough. The metal retains about 90% of the original finish.
This one has been cleaned, lubed, and resealed in our shop. The velocity was tested using lead pellets at around 550 fps. Shoots good!
- .22 caliber
- Bolt action
- Single shot

I was born in 1956 & already own a JC Higgins .22cal l.r. powder burner revolver, handed down to me. I am very interested in this piece of Sears history. Would you know how many shots per powerlet this beauty can shoot before pooping out? Thanks!

I would say around 30 or maybe even 40 shots per fill. That’s just going off memory.
